Oldest Refrigerator Contest!

When a refrigerator breaks down, or is too old for usage, how does one dispose of it? Many families will simply throw an old fridge away to quickly replace it with a newer model. However, 95% of a refrigerator is recyclable because of the metal, plastic, oil, and foam insulation that construct it. Therefore in order to promote responsible recycling, the Refrigerator/Freezer Recycling Program offers a $50 incentive to participants. Read the three facts below from the Clean Energy Recycling Program and see why it is important to schedule a pick-up.

1. On average, a newer refrigerator consumes 1,000 fewer kWh annually than a fridge or freezer manufactured before 1990.
2. Recycling 20,000 older refrigerators or freezers results in energy savings equivalent to the amount of power used in approximately 1,400 homes or removing 40,000 cars from the road for one whole year.
3. The program is running a contest for the oldest, working fridge!

New Jersey is looking for the Oldest Working Fridge! Whoever wins the contest will be awarded the title of New Jersey's Oldest Fridge and will receive a $1,000 gift card that will be good towards the purchase of any ENERGY STAR® appliance(s) sold in Sears stores.

Enter by recycling your old, working fridge between now and September 30, 2012! By doing so, you will be automatically entered into the contest. The program will provide FREE pick-up and handle the recycling of the refrigerator while you receive a $50 incentive just for participating.

To arrange for your free pick up call 877-270-3520. Or Click Here to schedule a pick up online. Restrictions apply, so you can visit the website for more details.

The winner of the contest will be announced in October 2012. Don't miss out on your chance to win!
